It's snowing!
There is something entirely serene and peaceful about the first snowfall. Large snowflakes quietly floating and swirling to effortlessly blanket the ground, transforming it into a monochromatic wonderland. This assumes of course that you are not on the roads driving with your parents while other vehicles are sliding aimlessly all around you and your mom is cautioning strongly to your father to slow down! Regardless of your perspective, I hope you enjoyed the day.

Term Two - Here we go again
Just as the students use the start of a new term for a new start, I find that it provides a similar chance to reflect for myself as well. In short, I am really enjoying this year so far and this group of students. They are a group with a great many gifts and the intiative to see that those gifts are well used. For the most part, they encourage, challenge, and push each other to do better and have been a joy to work with.
Keep up the good work class! I am looking forward to a great second term with you!

October 16th and counting....
I do believe I just missed a month. It is hard to believe that we are already headed into the second half of October. We are now well into the term, so please make an effort to continue with the great start that you have had. We are just over a month from the term cut off so I would like to see you all working hard to have great success in Term One.
It was great to role out the idea of "Responsibility Points" yesterday. As you demonstrate responsibility in being prepared for class (having supplies, seated and ready to go) you will earn points that can be traded like a commodity. Please take advantage of this great opportunity!

Sand, Sun and Students
The highlight for everyone in the Middle School today was spending the afternoon at Harrison Lake. We had some fun activities planned for the kids to promote class unity and to build a foundation of cooperation and teamwork across the three Middle School grades. As we expected the students were excellent. They had fun, worked hard and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in the sun.

Dr. Livingstone, I Presume?
In English over the next several classes the students will be working on writing a biography. They have chosen a from a list of Christians who have followed God's call in their life and through their obedience had a significant impact on the people or countries that they were called to. They will be studying names like George Muller, David Livingston, Eric Liddell, or Gladys Aylward.
I am excited about this project because the students will have a chance to learn about some really remarkable people. As the biographies are researched and then written and presented I think the students will be inspired.

Wow! What a Sunny Day!
After a rather dreary start to the school year last week, it sure is nice to be back to the great weather! The students in the Middle School are continuing to settle in. It has been fun as there are several new students and a large group of Grade Sevens who have moved up.
Mrs. Pauls and I have decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and are going to take the class to Harrison to do some team building activities with them. We are thankful to have a few parent drivers but could use a few more. If you are able please let us know.
I have been enjoying the MS students so far as they have continued where they left off last year, demonstrating courtesy, responsibility, and kindness. They will definitely be a class that will be easy to work with, to challenge and to serve along side as the year progresses.
I am looking forward to seeing many of you tonight at the meet the teacher BBQ. Come for dinner and get caught up.

Wednesday September 4th...
After teaching our Cascade Middle School students in smaller grade group settings for the past few years, I have been excited to get back to a whole class setting with English and Bible this year. The students did not disappoint. I have had many comments from our staff about the quality of our Middle School students this year and I have to agree. I spent the second half of my day working with the students for both Bible and English and they were delightful, on task, engaged and efficient. I know we are going to have a great year together!

Great First Day!
And by 11:30 we were all finished. I am excited to have spent some time this morning with the new Middle School class. It is great to welcome the grade seven students up from Mr. Ediger's room and also to welcome 3 new students to the school.
I know that this will be an imporant year for all of you both academically and as God stretches you as individuals. It is my hope and prayer for you that you will be open to all of the opportunities that lay before you and that you will choose to maximize the potential for all of the things that may come your way. You are a dynamic group of people and I am excited to be working with you this year!
